The demo for this, with its lush chords over a house beat, caught my ear right away. The core of the song was there from the start, except for the vocals. We discussed adding a vocal line, and I was amazed how quickly XT3RM1N8R came up with the lyrics and melody, in basically just a couple days. He recorded those, and we spent a while getting the vocoder FX right, then finally getting the mix right.
I remember wanting to make something like this but had an overwhelming concern that it would end up being too cliché. I'm glad we stuck through with it because it ended up being a lot of fun instead.
